Project Overview

  • The VA needed to create a UX guide for their clinical application coordinator (CAC) employees.

  • We were assigned to design the information architecture for the UX Guide.

  • Training and reference resource for CACs looking to better understand Human-Centered Design, and applying UX methods to their role within the VA.

Problem Space

Initial navigation based on content inventory

The VA’s UX Guide needs to be easy to maintain and update to meet the needs of CACs. We weren’t able to interview any CACs and had to recruit our own participants for tree testing.

Outcome

  • Out of the six presentations, OmniSync selected our team’s prototype to improve their product

  • Added version history that allows users to track changes on grant documents

  • Added comment feature on the text editor to increase collaboration and feedback

  • Expanded chat feature to allow for communication across different grants

Reflections and Lessons Learned

  • Randomize track order on tree testing to account for cognitive mapping of navigation.

  • Use additional question to collect more information about the participant, familiarity with subject matter and prior experience.

  • Not being able to contact the target audience was the most challenging aspect of this project.
